PO3 (Ret.) Lance Brune, USN
PO3 (Ret.) Brune grew up in the coastal town of Palacios, Texas with his parents and his younger sister. It was a small community where he played football, baseball, golf, fished and was a boy scout.
Lance always wanted to join the US Navy and in high school, he wrote an essay in detailing why it was his future. On March 12, 2003 he enlisted in the delayed entry program with the US Navy as a Machinist Mate. Throughout his deployments Brune visited many exciting and foreigh ports including Hawaii, Yokosuka, Sasebo, Guam, and Saipan. In January of 2006, two days after returning from Leave, Lance was in an automobile collision that ultimately left him paralyzed from the chest down. At twenty-one years old, Brune became a quadriplegic.
Lance has a tight-knit family who aid him in any way possible. His father is not only his biggest supporter, but also his caregiver. Brune looks forward to living near his family in his Helping A Hero home.
