Join The 100 Homes Challenge and change a life forever!

Johnny Morris, Founder of Bass Pro Shops, pledged 25% of the cost of the next 100 Homes and invites the American people and companies alike to join him in the 100 Homes Challenge. Will you join the 100 Homes Challenge by making a donation to Helping a Hero today? Please donate whatever you can, no amount is too small and no amount is too large!! Join us in telling our wounded heroes “Thank you for your service” in a tangible way by building homes for those injured in the Post 9-11 Global War on Terror. And whether you make a donation or not, you can still help! We invite you to Nominate a Hero for one of these homes by going to our website, HelpingaHero.org.

Helping a Hero Home Program

The Helping a Hero Home Program is our signature homebuilding program for severely wounded heroes injured in the post 9-11 Global War on Terror. Helping a Hero homes are designed to maximize the veteran’s independence. Homes for amputees and wheelchair bound veterans include roll in showers, roll under sinks, an adapted toilet area and other safety features. Burn victims require added interior air protections and heroes suffering from a severe TBI require a hospital quality master bedroom that includes a lift system, oxygen and support for 24/7 telemedicine.
Ordinarily homes are built in master planned communities where the developer donates the lot and the builder builds at cost. Helping a Hero designs the home for that specific hero, raises the funds needed for the project and assists in soliciting in kind donations. The veteran commits to make the Helping a Hero home his/ her primary residence for 10 years, contributes $50,000 to the home and if eligible, the veteran commits the VA Specially Adapted Housing Grant to the project. To date, Helping a Hero has awarded homes in 24 states and is accepting applications for 2022 homes as part of our 100 Homes Challenge.
