Altoona, Blair County, Pa.

Jeffrey Campbell and his family were given keys to a brand new home thanks to a non-profit program that benefits severely injured veterans.

Campbell suffers from multiple sclerosis from when he served as a nuclear electrician in the navy. Due to MS, he could lose the use of his arms and legs.

The non-profit Helping A Hero is the organization that helps provide homes for severely injured veterans.

The Hollidaysburg native was welcomed home by fellow veterans, local law enforcement and community members.

Country music star John Michael was also performed at the welcome home ceremony.

The Campbell home is equipped to meet Campbell’s special needs with wider doorways, an accessible bathroom, and kitchen, and other safety features.

The new house has four bedrooms and three bathrooms with plenty of room for his family of seven.

We caught up a representative with helping a hero dot org who says she’s proud to help this family.

“We’re so thrilled to get the Campbell family home, into a place where Jeff can now be independent, and can be a dad, and is able to do things like even give his kids baths, that he hasn’t been able to do since he’s been injured,” said Meredith Iler with Helping A Hero.

Campbell’s son Ben also said a few words at the ceremony.

“This home is supposed to come here to help with my dad and actually help us have a family and being able for him to be a dad help out with everything and I just want to thank you guys for coming out today,” said Ben Campbell.

Helping a Hero was founded in 2006 and has helped more than 100 heroes across 22 states.
